Linda Taylor, Ikebana of Richmond member presented a lecture/demonstration entitled “Fall at Last”. She is a Master 4 in Ohara school. She received her certification from Kosui Fujikado, who was awarded Eighth order of Precious Treasure by the Emperor of Japan for promoting an exchange of cultures between Japan and the U.S. She conducted a workshop entitled "narabu katachi- one row arrangement” following the demonstration. Rekha Reddy presented a lecture/demonstration entitled “Colours of the World”. She is a First Master of Ohara school. She studied Ikebana under teacher Grandmaster, Horyu Meena Anantnarayan & her mother, Shamala Y. R Reddy. She has been doing Ikebana for the 30 years and has been teaching, holding workshops and demonstrations for 20 years. She was presented ‘Commendation Award’ from Japanese Consul General Chennai in November 2015. She conducted a workshop entitled “Grobal India” following the demonstration. November 4, 2015

Young Lee Oh presented the Ellen Gordon Allen Lecture/Demonstration entitled “The Glory of the Season". She is a 1st Term Master of the Ohara school of Ikebana International. She studied under Master Matsuo Tomita in New York for 30 years and has taken masters classes in Japan. She conducted a workshop entitled "Hana-Kanade" following the demonstraton and 2 workshops entitled "Moribana, Water Reflecting Style" and "Heika - Arrangement in Tall Container" on the following day. February 5, 2015 Laura Anne Brooks (Ikenobo school), Judy Sheldon (Ohara school), Beth Gillispie (Sogetsu school) and Alice Litchfield, Helen Bunch and Shirley Woodle (Ichiyo school) presented a demonstration entitled "Introduction to Four Schools of Ikebana". 19 arrangements were on display for the Member Showcase; 6 from the Ikenobo School, 5 from the Ohara School, 4 from the Sogetsu School and 4 from the Ichiyo School. Alice Buch presented a demonstration entitled “Tis the Season for Chrysanthemums". She is a Third Term Master of Ohara School. She is a student of Grand Master, Betty Taylor and also has studied at the Ohara International Center in Tokyo, Japan and at the North American Ohara Teacher Conferences in Cleveland, Philadelphia and Los Angeles. She teaches classes in Arlington. She conducted a workshop entitled “One Row with Seasonal Materials“ following the demonstration. January 9, 2014
Youngmi Shim presented a demonstration entitled “Jubilee of the New Year”. She is an Ohara School 3rd term Master who has been active with the Ikebana International of Philadelphia Chapter #71 since 1988. She served as Second Vice President Program Chairman 2001-2003. She has exhibited at the Philadelphia International Flower Show since 1995, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Longwood Gardens, Japanese House and her local library. She conducted a workshop entitled “Color of the New Year” following the demonstration. April 4 & 5, 2013
Ronell Douglas presented a demonstration entitled "Spring Splender". She is a First Degree Master of the Ohara School and has studied with Mutsuo Tomita, International Grand Master of Ohara. She is a Past President of the Delaware Valley Chapter of Ohara, a Past President of the Philadelphia Chapter #71 of Ikebana International and was a demonstrator for our own Ellen Gordon Allen program. She conducted a workshop entitled “An Elegant Line”. Two workshops entitled “Natural Beauty” and “Forward Ikebana” were held on the following day. |
