The ICHIYO SCHOOL OF IKEBANA was founded by Ichiyo and Meikof Kasuya in 1937. Arrangements in the ICHIYO style are designed to give the viewer an unexpected, stimulating, and profound experience with nature.
Ichiyo and Meikof Kasuya sought to create an original style of IKEBANA that was suited to modern lifestyles. ICHIYO students are taught that imagination is as essential to creative designs as materials and containers. Personal expression is encouraged through the belief that “If flower arranging is to be truly fulfilling, it should be a reflection of oneself”. The ICHIYO SCHOOL considers an arrangement to be an art of human communication, not just flowers in a vase.
