Sogetsu

The SOGETSU SCHOOL OF IKEBANA was established by Sofu Teshigahara in 1926. His belief that flowers can be arranged by anyone and displayed anywhere using any material encourages appreciation by people from all over the world rather than being exclusively of Japanese culture.

SOGETSU IKEBANA is the most contemporary of all IKEBANA schools and students studying the SOGETSU style are encouraged to be individual and imaginative. Sofu Teshigahara followed the principles of traditional IKEBANA with a style for the modern age. This approach created space for self expression. SOGETSU’S contemporary, ever-evolving style creates bridges between individuals, cultures, nations, and continents.
