Midori Tanimune, Somu level teacher of the Sogetsu School created a spectaculer Taisaku Bamboo arrangement entitled “Passages” at Maymont for the Japanese Garden 100th Anniversary. The arrangement showcases the talents of Ikebana of Richmond members in one element of the design and is a wonderful expression of the unique relationship that has developed between IOR and Tanimune Sensei.
Here is the youtube link: Rosalie Ingenito presented a demonstration entitled "Back to Basics". She began studying Sogetsu in 1986 after attending a survey course at The Smithsonian. Jane Redmon was her first instructor. She continued her studies while in Italy and resumed classes with Mary Sugiyama upon her return to the United States. She has been a Sogetsu teacher since 1990 and recently attained the level of Assistant Professor 2nd grade. She conducted the workshop entitled "With leaves only" following the demonstration.
