Elizabeth Berry presented a demonstration entitled “From Classical to Modern”. She is an assistant professor of Ikenobo. In 1990, she began her study of Ikenobo with the late Chiyoko Allen in Washington, D.C.. In 1997, since Ikenobo was not available in Rome, Italy, she studied with the president of Sogetsu and became certified as a level 3 teacher in Sogetsu. In 2005, she resumed her study of Ikenobo with Rumiko Manako in Paris, France. Since returning to Washington, D.C., she has continued studying Ikenobo with her present teacher, Reiko Royston and has taught in Falls Church and in Richmond. She conducted a workshop entitled "Shoku Simputai" following the demonstration.
