Junko Liesfeld showed a power point demonstration entitled “The Art of Making Dolls”. She is an award winning doll artist and a talented member of Ikebana of Richmond. Her mother was also a doll artist. Her mother's work was the inspiration which brought her into the doll world.
She won her first award at The Women's Doll Art Award in Japan, and in the late 80's she won an award at The Global Doll Society Competition in London. She has exhibited at The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Rockefeller Center in New York, The Textile Museum in D.C., Musee Des Arts Decoratifs in Paris as well as participated in shows in Sweden, France, Germany, England, the U.S. and other venues through out Europe. She was also a judge for The Global Doll Society Competition until this organization closed in the late 90's. She has been a member of the National Institute of Doll Artists since 1998. In 2000, Junko, her mother and her sister, who is also a doll artist, had a "Mother and Daughters Doll Exhibition" in Japan. Comments are closed.
